I saw a bear yesterday and it prompted this post. I was hiking one of my favorite trails in Conifer, CO, and at the beginning, I had a thought of exactly where on the trail I would stop listening to my YouTube video and start paying attention to Mother Nature. Just before I reached that point, I diligently put away my phone and took out my ear buds. Then, at that exact place I had thought of in my mind prior to starting the hike, I saw a black bear on the side of the trail. Before I had time to react, he bolted down the hill.
I was elated. I’d never seen a wild bear so close. And yet, being that I was all alone 2 miles up, I was also immensely relieved that he ran from me and not at me. After my adrenaline settled down and my excitement wore off, I was quickly reminded how my initial thought, about where to start paying attention, was exactly where I saw the bear. I laughed out loud in profound humility about how natural our intuition really is. No matter how hard we try to recognize it, or study it, we won’t find it by searching for it. But rather, It finds us when we are not looking.
Our intuition always has our back; it’s like the grace of God. And for me, it seems to come through thoughts – rather than a voice or a feeling. We are all different in how we receive our intuition, however, and this is why it takes practice and experimentation with recognizing and trusting it. I heard someone say, “You have to have experimental faith,” and I think that’s what trusting in your intuition is all about. So, next time you have an event – similar to me seeing the bear on the trail – act on the information you receive, and then give appreciation for it. Tell the Universe that you are grateful to have been forewarned in some way, and that you welcome future information at any time. I believe you will start to notice a pattern as to how your intuition comes thorough. For me, it has been consistently through thoughts or dreams at night. Perhaps for you it will be in other ways… Happy intuiting.
