The Real Meaning of Surrender

To me, surrender is about resisting nothing and accepting everything. No matter how bad the thoughts or memories are, you allow them to surface. You do not push them away, but rather you act as the observer until they pass away on their own.

It is key to remember that you are not your thoughts. For if you think that you are, you are doomed to experience the pain, guilt, and fear that come along with them every time that they arise. Learning to detach from your thinking mind is really the definition of surrender.

Repressing your thoughts for fear of what they might create is not the answer either. For that just keeps the energy of that negative emotion alive within you. All our thoughts hold energy. This is why positive thinking is not just good for your mind – it’s good for your entire body. But when dark thoughts come upon us, we need to accept them, for no matter how bad they seem, they are a part of us.

One piece of advice I would like to share is how I have found chiropractics to be so much more than a physical adjustment. It’s an energetic adjustment that can actually free trauma from within our nervous systems – trauma that has perhaps been trapped in us for decades. You live unconscious to this pain because it’s been with you for so long. But when you have an opportunity to surrender it, to let it go, by however means you may, your life will change… for the better.
