Thank You, but No Thank You

I’ve often thought about the Law of Attraction and wondered whether what I was manifesting was a result of God’s plan or just something I created through the Law of Attraction.

Today, I believe that the two are one. I believe that if we have attracted something, it is because of the Law of Attraction and because of God’s will (otherwise it would have unfolded in some other way). Recently I had a new job opportunity come about, and four years ago, it would have been my dream job. And at this same time, I was pouring a lot of my personal time into learning about this field and creating a strong focus on it. It was because of this that I was not the least bit surprised when I got a call about a job relating to this position (on the full moon by the way, which equals a time of fruition).

Right away I noticed that this energy came to me because my attention was so heavily focused on it, but that doesn’t mean a small part of me also wondered if it was God’s plan for me. After all, it always seems that God pops in to tell me to do something new once I’ve finally accepted where I am. Was this an opportunity for my professional growth? Was this the time, when four years ago I would not have been ready? Oh, the questions I pondered in my mind before finally replying to this person. But at the end of the day, the process of elimination was simple: All I had to do was ask myself, is this really what I want now? And the answer was no.

There are some things in life you keep just for yourself and other things you learn because you are meant to share them with others. This was more of a personal interest for me than it was a professional interest. It just goes to show though, how we change, and how we evolve, and how like Garth Brooks sings, “Thank God for unanswered prayers” we can’t always get what we want, but we get what we need (and there’s the Beetles). Ultimately, what I thought I wanted then, turns out not to be what I want today.

So, what’s important to remember is, you can always decide. You hold the power. You always have free will. What you pay attention to will be brought into your awareness, but that doesn’t mean you have to accept it or act upon it. You can simply say, “Thank you, but no thank you” and direct your energy elsewhere. The Universe will understand. And don’t worry, God’s will will still prevail – it can’t not – because ultimately what you choose for yourself is also the same thing as what God chooses for you. It just so happens that when you really think you want something, your Higher Self – who can see a few years down the road – is ultimately running the show. So fear not, your best interests really are being looked out for by a power greater than yourself.
