Yoga is a way that we can move with intention. We go throughout our days cleaning the house, running errands, and moving our bodies for sure, but when we dedicate time to exercise, we move with intention.
This morning I got up resistant to do exercise, there were many other things around the house calling for my attention, but when I finally did sit down (and started very slowly), I realized the importance of moving with intention. It felt good to do the yoga poses, and though I was tired and resistant to it at first, it didn’t actually take much energy and it allowed me to have so much more energy for the rest of the day. It also provided mental freedom because my mind was no longer nagging at me constantly that I needed to do it!
Moving with intention is all about being mindful, paying attention to our posture, our breath, and the tense areas in our bodies that need to be lengthened. When we move mindfully, we receive the benefits of a pain-free body and a stress-free mind.
