God’s Way is Always the Better Way

Because God lives within us and desires through us, it’s only natural that when we surrender to God, we end up happier with the results. But what most people fear, is that by surrendering to “God’s will” they won’t get exactly what they want – when actually it’s the exact opposite. They end up getting something even better than they ever could have imagined.

This brings us to understand what’s really important in life: learning how to be receptive to God’s instructions. The surrendering isn’t that hard to figure out (mentally), it’s the receiving that so many of us get confused about. Was that God? Or was that just my ego? These questions frequently surface to even the most dedicated seeker. So what to do? Keep practicing; keep asking God to make hearing his instructions come easier. Ask what activity you could do that would best allow you to hear, feel, and see God’s messages more clearly. Also know: there is a consistency to God’s truth – so you never have to feel rushed when you’re not sure. Wait until you are clear and feel at peace. Go to bed each night at a reasonable hour so you can get enough sleep to remember your dreams. Many insights come to us while we sleep. Then, when you do have to get up and make a decision, trust that you are being guided and make it.

Just by having the desire to know what God’s will is for you, will make you a better conduit for receiving it. I find that, above meditation, writing, or anything else, hiking alone in the woods is where I most easily, quickly, and consistently receive my guidance. (And it’s no coincidence, as that is also my most favorite place in the world to be.) But we each have our own outlet where God gets plugged in. So, say a prayer for help, go find your happy place, and invite the Divine in to take the lead in your life.
