Is my grammar correct? Should I have used that semicolon there? The words themselves don’t matter as much as the words getting expressed. And, I almost didn’t use this title because when I googled it, I saw that someone else had already used it (but the author used a comma and I used a semicolon). Like it matters! I mean, why am I telling you this? Here’s why: if I never would have “checked” to see if someone else had come up with my title, I would have used it anyway! So, if we have an “original idea,” meaning it “originated” in our head, we don’t need to go search the internet to discredit ourselves!
There are many “authentic thinkers” who think up the same ideas everyday! In different parts of the globe no less! So if you discredit your own brilliance just because someone else out there agrees with your line of reasoning, than that is just hogwash! Our over-analytical brains can halt us from expressing our creative pursuits, but at the end of the day, if it’s your authentic self, you’ve got to express your truth!
Don’t worry about the details, just write. No one cares as much about your grammar being correct as they do about how your message makes them feel. And if they’ve heard it somewhere else, great – at least they’ve heard it! But if you can remind someone, inspire someone, comfort someone, or relate to them in some way, that is what truly matters. Happy writing!
