Accept Looking Like a Fool

Accept that you may contradict yourself, accept that you may make a mistake, accept that you may offend someone, and especially, accept that you may be wrong.

Isn’t it better to express who you are now than wait until some imagined state of perfection? Isn’t it better to embrace the way you feel about something today, and share it with others, verses hold it all in because you know your views may change tomorrow? Isn’t life richer when you are vulnerable and open? Or would you rather be on your death bed with regrets that you never contributed simply because you were afraid of looking like a fool?

We are never going to stop changing our minds. Let’s just face that. But we are going to constantly evolve. Our wisdom today will be surpassed by our wisdom tomorrow. Yet our wisdom of today is just as needed as our wisdom of tomorrow because there is someone out there who needs our wisdom today – who can’t wait until tomorrow – and who won’t be able to relate to it tomorrow.

So don’t let your fears hold you back; we all have fears. Growth is a choice. But so is stagnation and procrastination. We cannot give our gifts away without taking some risks. So don’t just accept looking like a fool, embrace it.
