It’s okay to Change Your Mind

I can openly admit that I am a walking contradiction.  Maybe it’s my Aquarian nature, or maybe that’s just my excuse.  I like to try different things and I have trouble limiting myself to just one job (even if I do love it with all my heart).  Sudoku puzzles are very hard for me and I constantly jump around from one idea to the next.  I can’t “settle”… and I refuse to for that matter.  If you ever feel this way too, you may find comfort from this reading out of the Bhagavad Gita written by Easwarn Eknath: “In examining our knowledge of ourselves, the sages made a similar discovery.  Instead of a single coherent personality, they found layer on layer of components – senses, emotions, will, intellect, ego – each in flux.  At different times and in different company, the same person seems to have different personalities.  Moods shift and flicker, even in those who are emotionally stable; desires and opinions change with time.  Change is the nature of the mind.”

Reading this always brings me peace of mind.  First, it’s comforting to know that it’s natural for minds to vacillate, and second, it’s nice to know I can find such a wealth of inspiration from so many different sources.  You know what I really hope to encourage you to do?  Read whatever literature you are drawn to. Too much of the time growing up I noticed that certain people were afraid to read anything other than Biblical material.  Well, this to me is very sad, and let me tell you why:  You are missing out!  If God created each one of us, then each one of us is an essence of God.  Don’t you think this qualifies any author to speak words of truth?  Words of inspiration?  Words of encouragement?  Regardless of his or her religious beliefs?  If so, then stop being afraid to discover ALL the library has to offer!
