Writing in COVID Times

Here I am. Four months later… I have taken a hiatus from writing during COVID, but not intentionally. Truth is, I’ve met someone new. My life has been all flowers and roses, and my feet are just now touching back down. COVID for me has been a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. And during it, I have attracted in a wonderful new man.

Though I have missed writing, I have not known that I’ve missed writing. Until I went to bed last night asking for what I needed and then awoke at 2:30 am brimming with energy to get back to writing. Sometimes we get ideas and we don’t know what they mean right away. Sometimes our bodies give us ailments to wake us up to what we have been ignoring. We can only ignore our inner calls for so long. They can only lie dormant temporarily – perhaps while other events are needing to take place in our lives. But eventually, we must get back to our inner yearnings; to that very essence that makes us who we are.

I believe that every physical ailment has, at its root, an emotional component. What is it that ails you? If you spend time alone with yourself and earnestly seek the answers, they will reveal themselves to you. Always. But first you must ask: Am I paying attention? COVID allows us all more time to reflect on ourselves and our lives. It beckons in self-examination and gives us space for self-renewal – if we are conscious enough to take action towards it. Be observant, take more time with things, and don’t forget to pay attention to your body’s needs and your soul’s call. Doing this will benefit all.
